Caitlyn Curry began studying the viola at the age of six, under the impression that it was a cello, but grew to love the viola for its rich tone and unique qualities! By playing in numerous orchestras and community productions as a youth, Caitlyn developed a love for music that would inspire her to study viola performance at a higher level.
Caitlyn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from Utah State University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Utah. During her time in school, she performed with the USU and UofU Symphony Orchestras, participated in masterclasses with artists such as Tabea Zimmermann, and attended various summer music festivals. Her primary mentors included the renowned violists Bradley Ottesen and Julie Edwards.
As a chamber musician, Caitlyn has studied extensively under the Fry Street Quartet and loves this genre of music. She has performed in chamber recitals, premiered a piece by Junyoon Wie that was commissioned for the Caine Quartet, and was a winner of the 2021 ASTA chamber music competition as a member of the Synchrony Quartet. As a coach for chamber music programs in Logan Utah, she enjoyed sharing her love for chamber music by coaching young quartets and developing projects to bring chamber musicians together within the community.
